Paint Your Community
Come Paint Your Community at the Gabriola Commons, Saturday, August 1st between 12 and 2:00. We will be making the first annual Commons Community Quilt. Quilt squares and paints and brushes, or fabric crayons, will be provided, with many willing artists around to assist you.
All the hundreds of squares will then be sewn together by one of the Volunteer Participation Team, and we will tie the quilt during our next meeting. (You can come help with that too, if you wish.) The quilt will then be displayed at the Fall Fair. Our plan is to produce one of these quilts each year, and to display them all in this way.
Each year we’ll have a different theme for the quilt. Any suggestions? We’re collecting ideas. This year we settled on the theme of our community, as it is a Community Quilt.
Iced-tea and cookies will be provided, along with Team Information Boards to up-date you on all the goals/dreams/plans of the different teams at the Commons. These boards will illustrate ways in which you can become involved in helping the teams achieve these goals. And we will have an information table where you can sign up to become a member, to participate in any way, or to become a donor.
Come join the fun and be part of the Common’s Community Quilt for 2009.
